One night, at about 2 am, the noise gets absolutely unbearable, and you telephone the police to complain. Just before the police arrive, however, the noise stops. The police knock at your door and ask why you rang them up. You say there was a noise next door, but now it has stopped. Sorry.
This happens several times. Each time you ring the police, the noise stops just before they arrive. After the fifth time, the policemen are very annoyed. They tell you that you will be charged with wasting police time if it happens again.
