You know that there is a secret exit at the back of the cave which leads you out into the woods. You back away from the dog, and as soon as you are out of its sight you run out of the secret exit, find the nearest tall tree, and climb up it to hide from the dogs.
Unfortunately, dogs have a very strong sense of smell, and you have not had a bath for a long time. The dogs soon find you and sit round the bottom of the tree, barking and howling. They are obviously not going to go away.
What is more, you hear the police approaching. You realise you haven't got a chance, and give yourself up as soon as the police discover which tree you are hiding in.
You are sent back to prison, with an extra few years added to your sentence for breaking out.
